Things to Do

Here you will find some suggestions for activities and things to do while you are staying in one of our cottages or rooms at our facility on Ocracoke  Island.

A Boat Trip to Portsmouth Village

Visit Portsmouth Village, a 1700's ghost village carefully maintained by the U.S. Park Service and also Blackbeard's Domain. See Teach's Hole where Captain Maynard beheaded Blackbeard the Pirate.

Soundside Kayak and Nature Tour

Nothing portrays the Island better than a quiet float trip through the soundside marsh. Bird watching is a real treat as well as the ever present marine life activity.

Inlet and Sound Fishing
on the Fish Tale

Enjoy light tackle fishing with Capt. John Ferrara for a variety of inshore species.  Partial and full day trips available for novice and experienced anglers.

Soundside Fishing

A full or half day outing  for a party of up to four people with your Capt. Wayne Belch.   Gray trout, spanish mackerel, flounder, drum, cobia, and many other native fish are routinely caught.  Just come aboard for a most enjoyable fishing trip.

ATV Birdwatching  Excursion

Explore miles of beaches, enjoy birdwatching and discover historic deserted Portsmouth Village.  Your adventure begins with a half-hour boat ride to Portsmouth Island.  Once on the island,  ATVs are used to visit some of the most remote and beautiful beaches on the outer banks.

Blue Water Adventure

Experience Gulf stream fishing on the charter boat, GECKO.  A full day of off shore fishing on a 46 foot Carolina Sport Fisherman, fully equipped with the latest tackle and electronics.  Go for the big ones!  Yellow fin Tuna, Wahoo, Marlin and Kings with an experienced licensed captain.

Sunset Sail

Sail the seas like Blackbeard on a 57 foot schooner flying the skull and crossbones. Board for a one hour cruise into the Pamlico Sound and let the wind take you on an adventure to remember.

Biking on Ocracoke

Whether you are a serious "cycling enthusiast" or a "casual pedal pusher",  biking is an excellent way to tour the village. Several scenic, slow paced routes are available.   As for the "hard core cyclist", the island has 12 miles of ocean side highway that is both picturesque and challenging. We offer hourly, daily, or weekly rentals for our guests depending on your need.

Open Mid March thru November.
