The Clark family (Wayne, Trudy and son, Bert) purchased the motel and cottage business in 1996.  Their goal was to create an atmosphere conducive to original  Ocracoke vintage style lodging. 

 
Wayne, a 25 plus years banker in his former life, enjoys assisting newcomers with their trip to Ocracoke.  Fishing and power boating are his favorite hobbies.  There is always time allowed to trade fishing information and boating tips.  He just returned with the family from their favorite spot in the Bahamas. As soon as all of the paperwork is caught up, he and Trudy will head to Charlotte, NC to visit their daughter, Brette and son-in-law, Bill plus Louisa, age 2 and William, just 4 months old. 
 
Trudy, a 15 year former school Media Specialist, relishes in keeping things around Edwards as much like it has historically been (old Ocracoke) as possible.  Her favorite hobbies are gardening, and fixing up the motel and cottage units as well as her own 40's vintage Ocracoke home. Trudy has continued to collect vintage dish patterns for several of the units as well as scouting for wall clocks and more of those funky vintage lamps. 
 
Bert is  a 1997 graduate of NC State University.  He majored in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Coastal Resources.  He has been working on Ocracoke in the summers since he graduated from high school.  There was never any doubt in his mind where he would be after college.  He enjoys bodyboarding year round and is an avid inshore fisherman.   There is seldom a day that passes that he is not either in or on the waters around Ocracoke. Bert and Sara are taking a 10 day trip to Mexico in February for some warm weather surfing and bodyboarding. As soon as they return from the vacation, Bert  will finish up the remodeling of the bungalow rooms.
