The Clark family purchased the motel and cottage business in 1996.  Their goal was to create an atmosphere conducive to original  Ocracoke vintage style lodging. It has been  almost a 12 year project and they continue to meet customers who enjoy the same memories of Ocracoke Island that the Clarks fell for in the mid 70's.

Wayne enjoys assisting newcomers with their trip to Ocracoke.  Fishing and power boating are his favorite hobbies.  There is always time allowed to trade fishing information and boating tips. His newest boat project  is reworking a 1992 Grady White Explorer.  Wayne's passions for boats is never ending only surpassed by his love for his two grand- children, Louisa and William.  No one would guess by his lifestyle that he spent 29 yrs in banking, unless you happen to see him crunching the numbers for our operation.

Trudy relishes in keeping things around Edwards as much like it has historically been (old Ocracoke) as possible.  Her favorite hobby is of course fixing up the motel and cottage units as well as her own 40's vintage Ocracoke home.  Her 15 years as a Media Specialist must also have trained her for juggling people, beds, fixtures and reservations.  Trudy has integrated her love of retro decor by collecting  vintage dish patterns for several of the units as well as scouting for mid-century clocks, vintage pictures and those funky lamps. The remodeling project on the bungalows in 2008  turned out great!  So, she is contemplating the next upgrades, which will also incorporate that same wonderful charm of vintage accommodations that she fell in love with.

Bert is a 1997 graduate of NC State University.  He majored in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Coastal Resources.  He has been working on Ocracoke in the summers since he graduated from high school.  There was never any doubt in his mind where he would be after college.  He enjoys fishing and bodyboarding year round.   If you need up to date fishing or surfing info, he is your go-to guy. There is seldom a day that passes that he is not either in or on the waters around Ocracoke.

Sara, Bert's wife, is originally from Hagerstown, MD.  She discovered Ocracoke while on a family vacation in 1996.  It was then, she decided to spend her summers here on the Island of Ocracoke.  Sara graduated from Towson University with a degree in Exercise Science and also obtained certification as a massage therapist. She enjoys running, surfing, hunting and fishing. We congratulate Sara on her 3rd OBX Marathon as well as another whitetail deer trophy in 2008.  She loves the outdoors and is grateful that Ocracoke offers her an abundance of those activities.
