About Us

The Clark Family purchased the motel and cottage business in 1996. Their goal was to create an atmosphere conducive to original Ocracoke vintage style lodging. 

After Hurricane Dorian in the fall of 2019, Bert and Sara Clark took the reins and are operating Edwards of Ocracoke Cottages going forward. 

Sara, Bert's wife, is originally from Hagerstown, MD. She discovered Ocracoke while on a family vacation in 1996. It was then, she decided to spend her summers here on the island of Ocracoke, where she now calls home. Sara graduated from Towson University with a degree in Exercise Science. She loves hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors.  

Bert is a 1997 graduate of NC State University. He majored in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Coastal Resources. He has been working on Ocracoke in the summers since he graduated high school. There was never any doubt in his mind where he would be after college. He enjoys fishing year round in his free time. If you need up to date fishing info, he is your go-to guy. There is seldom a day that passes when weather allows that he is not on the waters around Ocracoke.
